Centre for petroleum production facilities


Six R&D institutions have collaborated to form the Centre for Petroleum Production Facilities (CPPF).

The new research centre is set to ensure a sustainable future for Norwegian petroleum production in close cooperation with leading industry partners.

The initiation of Centre for Petroleum Production Facilities (CPPF) was announced at the ONS Conference on August 29th. The centre will bring together research and knowledge from the following six R&D institutions:

  • Norwegian Marine Technology Research Institute (MARINTEK)
  • SINTEF
  • Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)
  • The University of Stavanger (UiS)
  • Institute for Energy Technology (IFE)
  • International Research Institute of Stavanger (IRIS)

The centre has five strategic objectives:
  • Extend field life
  • Avoid major accidents
  • Improve operating and asset integrity
  • Manage ageing and new petroleum facilities efficiently
  • Contribute to increasing the value potential
